Diesel Mega Chief Quartz Chronograph Grey Dial Black IP DZ4282 Men’s Watch

Ever since I was a child, I loved swimming and in school, had won several awards. Then, I guess life caught up with me and swimming became a casualty. Oh, I didn’t give it up totally; I used swim at nearby health centre here in Florida but this was more like once a month or thereabouts.

Now, as a senior manager and not having to work two jobs to make ends meet, I realized that I had a bit of spare time on my hands and so decided to sign up at the ‘Dive Station’ which fortunately for me, was just a 20-minute drive from my home in Orlando.

The initial diving lessons were conducted in a large swimming pool. I used to wear my Orient automatic watch – not a ‘dive’ watch but supposedly 50M water resistant. One week down the line I began to notice condensation inside the crystal.

A month into my training, and my dive instructor came up to me and said I was best in the class. He then went on to give me a few “secret tips” as he called them and then added one final tip – “change that watch buddy. If not a dive watch, at least get yourself a decent 100M water resistant watch.” He said and added “trust me, you don’t want to be staying down there longer than necessary because you couldn’t read the time”.

Diesel My problem was, which dive watch to buy? The others in the class sported all sorts of chunky dive watches and when I enquired, I found their price tags too were impressive. My problem was that for me, diving was just going to be a hobby to be indulged in maybe once or twice a year. So, I did not want to splurge on a specialized dive watch.

Anyways, I Googled around and that is how I noticed the Diesel Mega Chief Quartz Chronograph Grey Dial Black IP DZ4282 Men’s Watch. I found it here https://www.zetawatches.com/shop/diesel-mega-chief-quartz-chronograph-grey-dial-black-ip-dz4282-mens-watch.

The watch was large (almost 2 inches across), with a clear window and more importantly, the price tag was under $250; amazing!

The watch has large blocks for hour markers, a date display between to giant pincers, and most important – the timer. The Chrono function included three sub-dials; a milliseconds dial, a dial for seconds lapsed dial and a dial for minutes lapsed. The watch was water proof up to 10 bar which meant 100M water resistant and this was okay for a hobby diver. I had no plans of going into the deep end of the ocean anytime now or in the future.

The buttons that controlled the chrono functions were large would be easy to operate despite the thick gloves. Perfect! The case, bracelet buttons and all, were grey IP stainless-steel. This was not an automatic. It required a button cell that according to the instruction leaflet, would last me years.

I bought the watch and have since been using it for all my dives. It’s performed well and has been keeping good time. The deepest I’ve gone so far is just 42M and trust me, the view down there is amazing. Cheers Buddy!
