I and my wife were planning on a Canada – New England Cruise. You know, the one where we enjoy whale watching, see the beautiful fall foliage. Visit quaint towns of Newport, Portland and the Bar Harbor. They have lighthouses and oh yes, the crab shacks – I simply love crab meat. We get to explore Canada’s Maritime provinces, including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and then finally, immerse ourselves in French Canada with stops in Quebec’s cities and countryside.

Anyway, the all-occasion, all-weather watch I was currently wearing was a digital Casio – practical but dull. What I need for the cruise, was something a whole lot exciting. Four days of ‘Googling’ narrowed my search down to 4 different watches. Of these, I elected the Lacoste Capbreton LA-2010897 Quartz Analog Men’s Watch as the winner.

I found the design of the Lacoste Capbreton LA-2010897 Quartz Analog Men’s Watch, to be refreshingly new, exciting and very holiday-ish. I felt it was the perfect watch for our upcoming cruise. I felt it was like the kind of watch a sailor would wear.

Besides, the price tag at zetawatches.com was US $150 (after $125 discount). Yup, you read that right; this Zeta watches website was offering a $125 discount. Perfect watch for a perfect price. Baby, I was already getting excited. I checked out the site and especially reviews to make sure it wasn’t one of those sites selling fake watches. You know; there are plenty of those these days. Fake Rolex, fake, Tag Heuer and so forth.

But no, this site guaranteed the genuine product and also every watch sold was accompanied by an international warranty. So, I went ahead and purchased it, least it got out of stock or something.

Three days later, the watch arrived by courier. The watch was nestled in a beautiful Lacoste box and cushion. In reality, the watch looked even more beautiful than on the computer screen. Dark blue (but in a bright sort of way), with splashes of white and brilliant yellow. I say however designed this watch was a genius.

The hour markers were part of the design in that, they were painted on the dial rather than raised as in most designs. The Lacoste Capbreton LA-2010897 Quartz Analog Men’s Watch has a stainless-steel case attached to a silicon / rubber strap. The internals are powered by quartz movement. The glass top is a mineral crystal and the dial is dark blue. It’s an analog display watch with a 12/24 hours sub-dial and a date sub-dial.

There is a protected crown and the strap as a buckle clasp. The back of the case says ‘50M Water Resistance’. I was hardly thinking of jumping into the ice-cold waters off the Canadian coast so 50M was okay with me. Once I come back from the cruise, I’ll probably post an update here or maybe not 😉
