Myself and my friends Allan and Gustav along with our families were out at a picnic at the Volkspark Friedrichshain. Thankfully it was a bright and sunny so the ladies had their sun-tan lotions out. The kids were playing with a remote-controlled miniature sail boat at the water body nearby and we menfolk were doing what we do best; guzzling beer and discussing various things when I happened to notice that Gustav was wearing a new amazingly beautiful watch. I asked if I could see it and he removed his watch and handed it to me. The watch that the words “Zeppelin” stencilled in bold at the top of the dial and includes the Zeppelin logo. The “Made in Germany” proudly stencilled at the bottom of the dial face.
If there ever was a ‘beautiful’ men’s watch, it would be the Zeppelin Series LZ 129 Hindenburg ED.1 Germany Made 7086-4 70864 Watch. Taking a look at it, no one would deny that it is a true classic.
Encased in a stainless-steel perfectly round case, the Zeppelin watch is 40mm across and so, respectfully modern and large. Twelve perfectly formed Arabic numerals are distributed around the face of the dial which is an off-white colour; technically called “Mild beige”.
The ‘glass’ on the top of the dial face looks crystal clear. It is actually not a glass at all; it is a Hesalite scratch resistant crystal. The fact that there were no scratches on it proved it was quite effective and deserved its reputation.
Being a classic, the Zeppelin Series LZ 129 Hindenburg ED.1 Germany Made 7086-4 70864 watch has an analog display system i.e. with two hands pointing to the time of the day. Despite the three sub dials on the dial face, thanks to the dial size, it appears uncluttered and beautifully laid out. All three sub-dials of the Zeppelin Series LZ 129 Hindenburg ED.1 Germany Made 7086-4 70864 watch, pertain to its chronograph function.
The chronograph function includes an add and split chronograph function that can count up to and amazing 12 hours. Interestingly, the date window is located at the 4’Oclock position. At the leading edge of the dial face, the seconds are marked in 10-second intervals. The case has three push-pull buttons. The first and last are for the chronograph function while the big middle button sets the time and date.
The beauty of Zeppelin Series LZ 129 Hindenburg ED.1 Germany Made 7086-4 70864 watch is that, it will go well with casual as well as formal wear and either case, it is an attention grabber. It is a watch that is expensive for sure, but it spells quality; German engineering quality and more importantly, it indicates that the wearer of this watch has fine taste.
